Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Ambrosan 2004 94 Points

Founded in 1951, this family estate is run today by the secondgeneration, Nicolis brothers Giancarlo (vineyard), Giuseppe (enology) and Massimo (business and marketing). "The Corvina (70 percent), Rondinella (20 percent) and Croatina grapes for this 2004 came from the 4.5-acre Ambrosan vineyard. Its richness was achieved using traditional techniques: Selected grapes were air-dried for three months before pressing, followed by a long fermentation. It was aged for three years, 80 percent in large Slavonian oaks casks and the remainder in French oak barriques. 5,000 cases made.
